Another important step for international data protection at Calenso
Calenso has always stood for the highest data protection standards - both in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection Act (nDSG) and the European GDPR. Now we are going one step further:
As part of the JRNI Group, Calenso now meets the requirements of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), including the UK extension and the Swiss-US DPF.
This ensures that personal data that is transferred to our US sister company JRNI Holdings, Inc. in exceptional cases (e.g. as part of technical support or administrative cooperation) is subject to a recognized, secure and legally compliant data protection mechanism.
What does that mean in concrete terms?
Nothing will change for our customers, partners and users:
All Calenso data will continue to be hosted exclusively in Switzerland and within the European Union.
There is no exchange of customer or application data with JRNI.
Access to certain personal data may only be necessary in rare cases, for example for technical support by JRNI specialists or for administrative HR processes.
These limited data accesses are now fully covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (EU-US DPF), the UK Extension and the Swiss-US DPF - programs officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce and overseen by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Why is this important?
With this certification, Calenso is ideally positioned not only in Switzerland and the EU, but also internationally to offer companies in regulated industries (such as finance, insurance, healthcare or public administration) maximum legal certainty and transparency.
The DPF ensures that personal data remains protected even when it is transferred to the USA under clearly defined conditions - for example, when technical support is provided by our US colleagues. For our customers, this means: the same standard of protection, additional security.
