Online bookings of services are becoming increasingly popular with many users. However, it is clear to see that the online services sector is still nowhere near as developed as the e-commerce (online retail) sector. The study by the German digital association Bitkom shows that One in seven users (16%) regularly book services online. Cleaning staff, tutoring or service technicians such as electricians are mainly ordered online. The middle generation, i.e. respondents aged between 30 and 49, are particularly fond of online bookings. In this age group, over 20% already book their services online. And the trend is rising! 1
Online appointment booking: advantages for customers
The companies that currently offer their services online at fixed conditions are mostly innovative companies or young start-ups. However, more and more traditional companies are also finding their way to online booking. Booking online offers many advantages for customers. It enables users to specify preferred dates around the clock, define the duration of a service themselves or purchase special services. Regular use of a service is also much easier.
According to the Bitkom study, metropolitan areas in larger cities in particular currently offer more intensive coverage of services that can be booked online. A clear trend can also be seen here. More and more service providers are offering their services online.
Tutoring more popular for online bookings
Tutoring for school and university is particularly popular in the ranking of the most frequently booked services online. This first place is followed by online services such as household repairs, cleaning and room maintenance, as well as help with caring for family members.
