The reality
The technology would allow it, but the reality is far different. The opinion research institute Forsa conducted a study on behalf of "Das Telefonbuch" on the usage behavior of online appointment bookings in Germany. A total of 73% of those surveyed would like companies to offer online booking options. Particularly popular sectors are the catering trade (77%), dentists (76%), doctors (75%) and car repair shops (67%).
The demand is there - the supply is lacking. Car repair shops are by far the most advanced. 40% of the garages surveyed offer online appointment booking. Only just under a quarter of restaurants, 15% of hairdressing and beauty salons and a weak 11% of doctors, dentists, lawyers and tax consultants digitize their appointment bookings.

Demand in Switzerland
Anyone who now thinks that the figures in Switzerland look significantly better will be disappointed. However, a survey conducted by Innofact on behalf of localsearch also shows that the demand is definitely there and that the Swiss are making use of the service. 65% of the Swiss population have booked an appointment online in the last three months. Men use online booking slightly more often (72%) than women (57%). Restaurant tables were most frequently reserved (59%), hairdresser appointments booked (28%) and doctor's appointments arranged (24%).
